After scoring the game-winning goal in an upset of No. 17 Arizona State on Saturday, San José State women’s water polo player Bridget Cranley has been named the MPSF/S&R Sport Newcomer of the Week.
Cranley scored the game-winning goal with 34 seconds remaining in the match to give the 18th-ranked Spartans the 13-12 win. She also got the Spartans on the board to start the match with the team’s first goal.
For the match, Cranley scored three goals total, her other goal coming in the fourth quarter. She grabbed two steals, had two field blocks and drew three ejections in the team’s MPSF victory.
Cranley is the first Spartan to receive an MPSF weekly honor this season.
