Spartans Drop Game to Pacific on the Road

STOCKTON, Calif. – Alex Fernandes went 2-for-3 and recorded both Spartan runs to lead the San José State baseball team (17-12, 5-4 MW) in a 7-2 loss to Pacific (11-19, 0-6 WCC) at Klein Family Field on Tuesday night in a lone midweek matchup.

San Jose State struck first, with Fernandes scoring in the top of the first inning after reaching base on a leadoff single. However, Pacific quickly responded, tying the game in the bottom half of the inning. The Tigers gradually built their lead, adding runs in the third, fourth, seventh, and eighth innings to pull away from the Spartans. 

Jake McCoy provided the lone RBI for San Jose State, driving in a run in the eighth inning with a double. Tyson Pereria (0-2) started on the mound for San Jose State, allowing two earned runs on three hits across three innings while taking the loss. 

  • San Jose State’s offense managed six hits
  • Fernandes recorded his 11th multi-hit game of the season
  • Antonio Nanez went 2-for-3
  • McCoy leads the Spartans with 23 RBIs
  • Pacific left seven on base
