SAN JOSE, Calif. – Taylor Squires had the game-winning triple in the bottom of the seventh to give the Spartans the win while Ahmiya Noriega hit her 10th triple of the season to lead San José State softball (16-18, 4-5 MW) in a walk-off 5-4 win against Pacific (11-20, 0-0 WCC) in a midweek matchup from Spartan Softball Complex on Wednesday night.
The game, which saw multiple lead changes, was decided in the bottom of the seventh inning when Squires delivered the game-winning RBI triple, sealing the win for the Spartans.
Tied 3-3 heading into the bottom of the fifth, San José State capitalized on key offensive plays, including an RBI triple from Noriega that gave the Spartans the temporary lead. A strong relief pitching performance from Mia Reynolds helped keep the Tigers in check, striking out four batters in the final two innings to set up the walk-off moment.
Squires led the Spartan offense, going 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Aneesa Almaguer and Carly Cummings each added multi-hit performances to fuel the team's scoring efforts.
Pitcher Taylor Peacock started the game, going four innings before Reynolds closed out the victory.
